Celebration of Definitive Commitment

Gail IdeSix years ago Gail Ide started her journey of preparation that led to her definitive commitment as a Consecrated Secular, a branch of the International Congregation of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit.

MassGail who was a Daughter of the Holy Spirit for 28 years, brought her love of the DHS charism and mission to her new way of livng her consecrated life. She was attracted to the Secular Branch essentially because it allows its members to maintain their independence in life styles while encouraging them to fully live out the charism of reaching out to those in need and placing love/charity at the forefront of all decision-making.

MassThe definitive commitment took place within the context of the Sunday liturgy and was attended by many DHS, as well as friends and family of Gail. The theme for the simple ceremony was that of the Consecrated Seculars: “Living in the Spirit at the heart of the world…”. and the mass celebrant, Rev. Ted Timicki,  along with the regional moderator for the Secular Branch, Jane Houtman, led the Vow Ceremony which was followed by the signing of the official registers. Refreshments and lively congratulations and conversation in the Provincial House Gymnatorium continued the celebration for one and all on this sun-drenched yet blustery March afternoon in Putnam.

signGail now lives in Fitchburg, Massachusetts where she is a hospice volunteer, work with which she is long familiar after having ministered to the ill and AIDS patients for several years while living in Florida. She clearly expressed that she would seriously invite our readers to consider the Secular Branch as a life choice. Gail would be happy to hear your comments and/or queries.  Simply contact her at ailide4@aol.com You may also visit the web site of the DHS Consecrated Seculars at : www.seculardhs.org
