Home to her Lord

 

Doris BerubeSister Doris Bérubé (Thérèse Thomas) was called home to her Lord on Friday, November 7, 2014.

Doris was born in Hartford, CT on January 3, 1920 to the late Thomas and Philomène (Bélanger) Bérubé and grew to know the Sisters during her elementary and high school years at Putnam Catholic Academy. 

Sister held degrees from Diocesan Sisters' College in Woodstock, CT and an MA from Fairfield University. She dedicated her professional life to the field of Education as a teacher and principal in DHS administered schools in Waterbury, Putnam, Fairfield, Jewett City and Woodstock, CT where she coordinated the International Institute at the former Annhurst College.
 
From the College Sr. Bérubé ministered in St. Mary of the Visitation Parish in Putnam as CCD Coordinator and assisted part time as secretary at Hawkins House in Danielson, CT. In 2002 Doris transferred to the Provincial House Community where she helped out in the Secretariat. Her declining health led her to move into the Health Care Center in 2012 where she was at the time of her death.

In addition to her DHS family, Sister leaves several nieces, nephews, and her very faithful and dedicated friend Dr. Diane Summa, DHS ASSOCIATE.

Calling hours will be on Monday, November 10th from 6-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:15 in the chapel of the Provincial House in Putnam. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11th also in the chapel with enterment in St. Mary Cemetery Providence Street in Putnam.
