A Regal Little Christmas

Just as Auntie Mame reminded us in the Broadway musical bearing her name that every now and then “we need a little Christmas” the Sisters in residence at the Provincial House in Putnam were offered that very opportunity as the feast of Epiphany, more commonly known as the celebration of the 3 Kings, was lived out on the afternoon of the 6th of January.

Sisters It was indeed a regal celebration as the two reigning members of the court, Sisters Thérèse Morneau and Anita Lambert, were randomly chosen by finding the royal decree taped to the undersid of their dessert dishes. They wore their crowns fittingly and oversaw the other members of the community enjoy the entertainment provided by Claudia Bettez and the recreation department via the singing and guitar playing talents of Tom Callinan.

The combined themes were the brainchild of Sr. Connie Charette, coordinator of the community, in an effort to provide some Christmasing time for a community that had been forced to lay low during the holidays because of severe colds.

Epiphany which in most countries has always been known as the ‘little Christmas’, was the perfect occasion to celebrate the joy of the birth of Christ, the enlightened moment and gifts of the Magi and the return to good health. The singing, the laughter, the facial expressions and the comments that followed made it very clear that the Sisters thoroughly enjoyed this special event. The photos speak for themselves and highlight some of the peak moments of this regal little Christmas.
