Centenarian Celebration

Violet TwomeyThe California DHS family gathered to celebrate the 100th birthday of Associate Violet Twomey. And a celebration it was with lots of conversation, a variety of tasty croissant sandwiches and fruit salad, topped off with a yummy- delicious strawberry filled birthday cake.
Vi reminds us of the Energizer Bunny; although she has slowed down a bit she still lives at home and has someone come in for the evening and over night, she gets up in the morning, gets dressed and makes herself a cup of tea.

So how exactly did this woman who survived the Great Depression, a World War, and hundreds and hundreds of inventions that she has seen come and go, live this long? Her motto "I don't think about my age, I never did".

DHS AssociatesNow that Vi has slowed down and can't get out as she once did, her associate group (Group one Merced) comes to her. They occasionally arrange to have the meeting at Vi's home so she can keep up with DHS news and her associate family.

Everyone, especially all Associates,  could learn from Vi's example of decades and decades of community and parish service.
May the Spirit keep all of us always young at heart and energized by the good works we do and the lives we celebrate.
