DHS Celebrate Chaplain and Friend

priestsJuly 2nd marked the 60th anniversary of priesthood for the Rev. Richard L. Archambault who has also been the chaplain at the Holy Spirit Provincial House for 37 years. To honor our long-time chaplain and good friend, a simple yet meaningful celebration was held in our chapel and pavilion.

The liturgy was offered by Fathers. Richard, his brother, Henry, Lawrence LaPointe and Edward Dempsey and was attended by a large contingency of Richard’s family and closest friends from the area. The DHS choir was at its best as it set the tone for a time of celebration and gratitude. Homilist Rev. Henry Archambault did a striking tribute to his sibling while managing to roast/toast him appropriately in a gospel context that everyone understood and appreciated.

family at tableAt the conclusion of Mass, Sisters and guests scurried to our outside pavilion where typical delectable July fare was enjoyed by all in an atmosphere of joy, underlined by the guitar and harmonica of Rob Fletcher out of Greenfield, MA also joined by our very own” harmoniquette” Sr. Marie Pauline. The festivities were only interrupted briefly by Sisters Gertrude Lanouette, Provincial, to offer congratulations and gratitude to Father Archambault and by Connie Charette, Community Coordinator at the PH, to welcome one and all and to invite everyone to enjoy themselves to the max.

The occasion provided the opportunity for much interaction among ‘old’ friends, with the Sisters and guests and clearly was a living example of Christian Community at its peak. For that and especially for Father Richard’s years of service in love and dedication to the Church, the Daughters and the Civic Community, we praise our good God and giver of all gifts and ask for continued blessings on all who shared this privileged moment.
