Province Day 2015

Province houseIt was a beautiful sunny day on Saturday, October 10th, when the sisters gathered for Province Day 2015.  The theme for this gathering “The Year of Consecrated Life” was actually chosen by Pope Francis for us.

As usual the sisters gathered around coffee and baked goods, happy to come together for this annual meeting. The presenter was Sr. Mariette Moan ASCJ, an Apostle of the Sacred Heart. Sister is the Vicar for Religious in the Archdiocese of Hartford. She was happy to be among the Daughters of the Holy Spirit having had our sisters in elementary school at St. Brendan’s in New Haven.

In her presentation Sr. Mariette reminded us of Pope Francis’ objectives in declaring this as the Year for Consecrated Life:  1) Gratefully remembering the past, 2) Embracing the future with hope, and 3) Living the present passionately. She elaborated on each of these. At this time the Pope is challenging religious to “Wake Up the World”.

Sister also facilitated our sharing in small groups about how we can really make a difference.  Each of us has many opportunities to bring the gifts of joy, fidelity, gratitude, courage, simplicity and integrity to each other in community and to our world with our families and other persons with whom  we come in contact. At the close of our gathering we are always happy to have an update of “Family News” and this Province Day was no different.
