Associates Sponsor Retro Music

If we allow the term ‘retro’ to describe something that goes back in time, then it may even be appropriate to say that the musical entertainment sponsored by the DHS Associates recently to help set the tone for hokidaying for the Sisters in residence at the Provincial House as well as for any other Family member wishing to attend, was ‘super-retro’.

Indeed the lovely sounds, both a cappella and accompanied on instruments popular in days of yore, produced by the Goodlie Company ensemble allowed everyone in the gymnatorium to suspend present time and drift back to the very old days when European culture reigned and left its mark for posterity in both the religious and secular spheres.

This was the second appearance of this delightful group at the Provincial House, and the smiles and accolades of those in attendance indicated their high expectations and their appreciation of the performance of this multi-talented group.

While the variety of motets and other short compositions maintained the interest of the audience, the socializing and interaction that followed the presentation proved to be loads of fun as well, affording the opportunity to touch rare instruments and to try one’s hand at actually plucking strings that responded well to the touch of strangers’ hands.

Special recognition goes to Associate Jennifer Davis-Carey who was instumental in providing this lovely afternoon of a musical escape for our DHS Family.  What a super way to enter into the festive season of Christmas!
