Vocation Posters at the Provincial House

vocations posterThanks to the invitation of Mr. John Ryan, Knight of Columbus from the local Cargill 64 council, the Provincial House’s main conference room became the setting for the exhibit of posters on the topic of “Vocations in the Church”, an annual event sponsored by the Connecticut state council of the K of C.

Participation is open to students in Catholic Schools or registered in parish CCD programs throughout the state to encourage them at an early age to start thinking about their life’s work in close connection with the Church, namely vocations (callings) as lay single or married persons or as women or men religious/clergy.

A committee composed of 3 professed religious women and 1 priest gathered to determine the first place posters at the state level submitted by their local level parishes as the best expressions of the meaning of vocation and response thereto. Posters were judged by grade levels (1/2,3/4,5/6,7/8) based on how well the vocation message was transmitted.

Sr. Marie Pauline Guillemette, DHS enjoyed her experience saying: “It was good to work with Fr. Archambault whom I know very well through his chaplaincy here at the Provincial House, and with religious from 2 other congregations. It was interesting to listen to their points of view and to hear their concerns about the importance of helping youngsters understand what a vocation is.”  Archambault added: “We need vocations. The priests and the nuns are important. It’s good to get young people dealing with this.”
