Our DHS Associates in Action

DHS AssociatesMembers of the Associate Branch of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit Spiritual Family on the East Coast recently participated in their annual retreat. Again this year the weekend retreat was held at Immaculate Conception Spiritual Center in Putnam and the retreat ‘master’ was the Rev. Edward Dempsey.

Warm sunshine and beautiful flower-filled gardens made it quite easy for the group to enter into the spirit of the weekend: delving into Trinitarian Spirituality.  The presentations were divided up into 4 sessions, built on one another and providing a closer look into the central spirituality of the Congregation itself.  Dempsey, in his natural easy to understand style, painted an historical context of this concept and walked the participants through miles and miles of practical everyday significance for their daily lives. Of course, there was ample built in time fo enjoy one another’s presence at meals and moments of recreation.

DHS AssociatesComments on the weekend experience reflected that the Associates as a whole were “impressed with such a clear presentation of the Trinity” and that they are clearly motivated to eagerly await next year’s time away for reflection. Dr. Diane Summa, group moderator, shared that she particularly “found the retreat to be very deep and enlightening”.

DHS AssociatThis also happens to be the time of year when the Associates run their annual raffle to raise funds to support their year-long activities such as travel to meetings, meeting expenses, annual retreat, etc. This year the event yielded a profit of $1,000 for the group. Special thanks to donors who were most generous in making outright cash gifts to the cause and to those who bought tickets.  Winners of this year’s raffle are: Semantha Monick, Yarmouthport, MA,James Brennan, Plainfield, CT, Lorie Bellavance, Moosup, CT, PJ Houle, Putnam, CT, Louise Labrecque, Moosup, CT. Congratulations and best wishes to our lucky winners.

DHS AssociatesIn August 3 representatives from the East Coast and 3 from the West Coast of the USA will travel to Brittany, France to celebrate an International Assembly for DHS Associates. They ask to be kept in thought and prayer throughout this unique time of their lives. More information will be available after the assembly.
