US Provincial Team Goes International

The month of August was a busy one for our US Provincial Team as it found Sisters Gertrude, Jackie and Marian traveling to France to join their colleagues for DHS International meetings and celebrations.

Sr. Gertrude Lanouette, Provincial Team Leader, went early to participate in the DHS Spiritual Family Assembly that culminated with the festive ceremonies marking the end of the Year of Marie Balavenne (see international celebration and archived articles for more details). A week later she was joined by her two team members to share in the “government sessions” for planning and advancement of the Congregation.

The government meetings which consisted of spiritual and concrete exercises for the governance of the congregation in real time and into the future dovetailed into 5 days of planning sessions for the Council of the Congregation, the entity that meets every year in between chapters (every 6 years) to evaluate progress, to continue planning and to encourage members of the Congregation to advance in their efforts to implement the orientations set by the previous General Chapter.

Sisters jackie and Marian returned stateside after the government meetings leaving Sr. Gertrude in the company of the Provincials and Vice provincials from Africa, Chile, Peru, England, Ireland, Wales, and France, Belgium, Holland to bring the sessions to a close.

The photos show the Team attentively looking at some hand outs, posing with the coordinator of the host community of Ile Blanche and deep in conversation with their counterparts from England.
