Sr. Anita Lambert Will Celebrate her Jubilee in Heaven

anita lambertIt was on a lovely sun-filled Sunday that our beloved Sister Anita said her final 'yes' to her Lord and entered eternal life, June 3rd.

Sister was born in Granite Ville, Vermont to Albert and Marie Isabelle Lambert on November 21, 1933. In 1950 the teenager entered the Novitiate of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit in Putnam where she made her first profession of vows three years later.

The young Sr. Rose Albert de Marie earned a BA degree at the former Diocesan Sisters' College in Woodstock, CT and an MA from Boston University and headed for a career as teacher and administrator in Catholic Schools in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York State and California.

After moving from the world of education in the late 1980's, Anita spent some time in pastoral work in Tupper Lake, NY. She then came to the Provincial House in Putnam and offered her assistance to the Provincial treasurer. She also ministered as Receptionist in this very busy facility.

With the increasing number of retired Sisters needing transportation to varied and sundried appointments, Anita donned her chauffeur's cap and responded to their many calls. She continued in this ministry until her full retirement in 2010.

In the summer of 2016 Sister joined 21 companions in forming the new community at St. Joseph Living Center in Windham. Anita would have celebrated her 65th anniversary of religious profession on June 10th this year.

Anita loved musical theater and attended as many local performances as she could. She thoroughly liked seeing her former students and their parents as well as colleagues and always made it a point to go out of her way to greet them with her lovely and inviting smile.

Family and friends will gather on Wednesday from 6-8 pm in the Provincial House Chapel and share a prayer service at 7:15. The funeral mass will be in the same place on Thursday, June 7th. She will be interred in St. Mary of the Visitation Cemetery on Providence Street in Putnam.
Anyone who wishes to offer a Memorial gift in honor of Sr. Anita may send that to the Development Office 72 Church Street Putnam, CT 06260.

Rest in peace, Anita. The Lord now holds you forever in the palm of his hand.
