Sister Patricia Rickis, DHS

December 18, 1942 – September 21, 2024

Sr. Patricia Rickis, 81, a member of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 21, 2024 at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT after a brief illness.

Born in Poquonock, CT on December 18, 1942, she was the oldest of two daughters born to Paul and Anna (Kupchoonis) Rickis. She entered religious life in 1960 and made her religious profession on June 1, 1962. She was then known as Sr. Rose Francis.

After receiving her BA in Education, Sr. Pat taught briefly in Leominster, MA and Tupper Lake, NY before being missioned to Bridgeport, CT where she taught for 35 years at St. Anthony/Sacred Heart, Holy Rosary, and St. Ann Schools. She loved teaching and she especially enjoyed her junior high students. She retired in 2012 and eventually moved to Ella Grasso Apartments in Putnam, CT. She was active in the Senior Center there. Proud of her Lithuanian heritage, she was a member of the Knights of Lithuania.

We wish to thank the staff at Day Kimball Hospital, especially the ICU nurses for their kindness and attention to Sr. Pat during her last days on Earth.

Sr. Pat is survived by the Daughters of the Holy Spirit spiritual family – her Sisters in community, the Consecrated Seculars and Associates. She is also survived by her aunt Gerene Gamba and her nieces Lynn and Holly McCormick as well as several cousins and lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her sister Darlene McCormick and her niece Darlene McCormick.

Calling hours will be on Monday September 30, 2024 at 9:15 AM at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish/Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret St., Pomfret, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held there at 10:00 AM followed by burial at St Mary Cemetery in Putnam.
