Patricia Podurgiel Krodel, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher and friend, passed away peacefully at home with her husband Joseph Krodel by her side on Monday December 9, 2024 at the age of 77.
Patricia was born on July 8, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Natalie and Joseph Erardy. Known as “Cissy” to her family, she moved with her four siblings (Catherine, Michael, Raphael and the late Louis Erardy) to Norwich, Connecticut as a young girl. She graduated from Norwich Free Academy and went on to graduate from Eastern Connecticut State University with a Master’s Degree in Education. She was married to her junior high school sweetheart Paul Podurgiel. They were married for 25 years until his passing in 1997. She worked for many years as a teacher and administrator at St. Mary’s School in Putnam, CT until her retirement. After many years on her own, in her own words, “God blessed me with another wonderful husband to love and who loves me.” She married Joe Krodel in 2011.
Known for her deep Catholic faith and generous nature, Pat was a covenanted member of the Associates of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit since 2011 and served two full mandates as Associate Moderator in the USA. She spent countless hours volunteering and ministering to others. She had many talents including sewing and crocheting. She created beautiful dolls, blankets and clothing made specifically for the people she loved most. She never missed an opportunity to celebrate family and friends. Pat leaves behind a legacy of faith in the Lord and love for her family and friends.
