It’s not something you do every day. As a matter of fact, most folks never get to do it at all. Celebrating a 100th birthday is a feat indeed!
That is just what Sr. Eileen Smith did on December 31st. She and those around her celebrated the day Eileen was presented to the world and the many ways in which she enriched that same world time and time again for an entire century.
To honor those 100 years in a special way the DHS Development Office was honored to dedicate the cover page of our winter edition of REALITY to Sister. Dr. Françoise Gauthier, Development Director for the Province, traveled to St. Joseph Living Center in Windham, CT where Eileen is in community and presented our centenarian with the first copy of this REALITY edition.
You can almost guess the surprise reaction of Sister Eileen and the joy and excitement in her voice. Truly a moment to praise God for this honor and privilege of having been so many things to so many people over these many years.
Sr. Eileen, we thank you and bless you for sharing your life with us and for honoring your God through a full life of service to Him and his people. May the Spirit continue to shine through you for many years to come.
