AS APOSTOLIC RELIGIOUS
We are women who listen together to the Spirit and commit ourselves to serve our God and humankind through our public vows of poverty, consecrated celibacy and obedience.
We are women who pray, share our lives in community and who serve wherever the Spirit calls. We often make our homes in close proximity to those to whom we minister.
We are women who hold our resources in common and discern how to use what we have to glorify our generous God and to assist those whom we are missioned to serve.
We are women who are deeply concerned about Mother Earth and all of Creation. We dare to stand together in favor of justice and non-violence and to denounce publicly all that negatively impacts life.
PREPARING FOR A LIFE AS A DAUGHTER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Preparing for a life commitment as a Daughter of the Holy Spirit consists of 4 distinct stages over a several year period.
stage is a time dedicated to prayer, discernment and attentive listening to the Spirit to confirm the calling of the Spirit at this point of your life. The candidate is assisted by the Vocation Directress to delve more deeply into personal spirituality and that of the DHS.
stage provides the experience of living in an established DHS community where you will also have the time and opportunity to further deepen your personal spirituality and to learn more about the spirituality and history of the Congregation. The Directress of Affiliates will accompany you on this leg of your formation journey.
stage is divided into two segments. The first year is an intense period of direct preparation for vows and includes studies on the full meaning and implications of the three vows and more time to better understand the charism and life of the DHS. The second year, the Apostolic Novitiate year, will be spent involved in the daily life and ministries of the Congregation, giving you the chance to live up close and personally the DHS experience and mission. The Directress of Formation will accompany you during this stage.
The TEMPORARY VOWS
stage begins after completing the novitiate stage and requesting admission to the Congregation as a temporary-professed Sister. Initial vows are made for a one year period and are renewable upon request and acceptance. Several renewals are possible before admission to Definitive Vows. During this period the newly professed Sister is fully engaged in ministry, community life and all other activities of the Congregation. She may also continue her studies and various means of ongoing formation.
